It’s simple! If you have a PiHawk drone and you complete one of the projects below, you will be rewarded with the cash bounty!
To successfully claim your bounty, you will need to satisfy the following criteria:
Bounty videos should include the following:
Email us at caleberg@dojofordrones.com if you have any questions or if you are applying to claim a bounty! We are also accepting custom project bounties if you have a project idea not listed below- just reach out to us!
You will be competing against myself and other Drone Dojo members. Good luck!!!
Using two or more drones, with at least one being a PiHawk, demonstrate a coordinated mission with the drones operating in unison. Potential missions could be light shows, coordinated heavy object lifting, or coordinated structure building. Check with us to confirm your idea is bounty eligible.
Demonstrate an AI or Object Recognition autonomous mission to claim this bounty. Example mission could be hand movement based control of the drone via camera sensing. Unleash your creativity- check with us to confirm it is bounty eligible.
Conventional drone internet connectivity is limited to local WiFi range. To claim this bounty, install a 4G LTE module to the PiHawk to be able to monitor and control the drone from any distance.
Demonstrate obstacle avoidance capabilities from all directions, not just one dimension. You’ll likely need a spinning Lidar sensor, or a series of ~eight 1D rangefinders pointed in all different directions.
GPS isn’t available indoors. Demonstrate an indoor localization system that can be used to replace GPS for indoor autonomous flight. You’ll need more than just Optical Flow so you can correct errors. Potentially look into MarvelMind.
The Drone Dojo focusing on python dronekit scripting for autonomous missions. With this bounty, demonstrate how you can control the PiHawk drone with ROS (MAVROS) scripting as an alternative.
Drone internet connection in the field can be difficult, and it’s even more difficult to find Ad-Hoc capable WiFi dongles. Demonstrate how you can use a Mobile Hotspot to connect your Laptop and Drone instead. This bounty doesn’t require PiHawk

Demonstrate an autonomous landing of the PiHawk drone onto a moving platform. You will most likely have to incorporate python dronekit scripting, along with precision landing capability.
Demonstrate how drones can be used for fishing. An example application could be attaching a bobber line with bate to the PiHawk and dropping it off farther than a normal casting distance.
Obstacle avoidance with a one dimensional Lidar sensor. Demonstrate the installation, software setup, and actual obstacle avoidance on the PiHawk. Flight modes can be manual.
Demonstrate the setup and performance of an autonomous drone delivery mission using the PiHawk. Delivery distance doesn’t have to be very far- even ~30 feet will do.
Precision landing with the IR-Lock sensors. Demonstrate the installation, setup and actual performance of the PiHawk drone precision landing with IR-Lock.
